11 UNDER

We congratulate all those who are being honored this month as Springfield Business Journal’s 40 Under 40!  This year’s honorees are a very diverse group who are already making a great impact in our community and we appreciate all they have done and continue to do.

We would also like to recognize those individuals at our firm who are a fantastic group of architects, designers and staff who are also under the age of 40.

These young professionals show that age is only a number, as many of them have accomplished more than others twice their age.  We are proud to share each of these amazing members of our staff with you!

(editor’s note:  apparently we are having some issues with the biographies and only a few are posting as we would like, which is what prompted our delay of the blog…however, we wanted to make sure to recognize each of our Under 40 members and will have their individual information up as soon as we can, so please check back if you can’t find some of their information)

“Focused on the Details”

(From the Biz417 March-April 2017 Issue)

Esterly, Schneider & Associates Inc., AIA has a long-standing presence in 417-land that has produced 70 years of architectural excellence by building relationships with its clients.

When Craig Schneider became the managing partner of Esterly, Schneider & Associates Inc. AIA in 1985, the Springfield-based architectural firm founded by A.C. Esterly already had almost four decades of experience. Founded in 1947, the firm hits a notable milestone this year with 70 years in business. While the company’s values have remain consistent, the strategy of running an architecture firm has changed in the past seven decades.

As one of the longest continuously operating architectural firms in 417-land, the company has long-standing relationships with many of its clients, something Schneider takes pride in. “We believe strongly in focusing on our history and who and what have contributed to where we are today,” he says.

Schneider knows the importance of embracing the local community—a practice…  CLICK HERE to read the rest!

5 BRANCHES

Over the past 30 years, Esterly, Schneider has had the privilege of working with the State of Missouri to ensure our Veterans have safe and comfortable housing where they can reside.  We encourage everyone to take a day trip to Mt Vernon or St. James and visit with some of those who have served the United States and risked their lives to protect each and every one of us. Everyone who lives in one of the State’s Veteran’s Homes has served in active duty through one of the 5 branches of the military.

Esterly, Schneider has also had the great privilege of designing the Veteran’s Columbarium at the Springfield Veteran’s Cemetery, located at 5201 S Southwood Rd.  We believe it is also very important to recognize those who have passed and that we all continue to remember their service.  Gone, but not forgotten.

311 ST LOUIS STREET

Walking downtown on Park Central East in Springfield, you most likely pass by a piece of history.  Marx Clothing Store, currently where you see the patio for Big Whiskey’s Downtown, was part of the Marx-Hurlburt Building.

In 1949, the storefront to the Marx store was designed by our Firm.  “The Modernistic design and materials of this storefront was promoted nationally by Pittsburg Plate Glass Company stating, ‘This progressive look is especially important today when competition is so keen, customers more critical.  To give their stores an inviting, up-to-the-minute look, many alert merchants have modernized with attention-getting Pittsburgh Plate Glass and Pittco Store Front Metal.’”  1

So, next time you are downtown, stop by to take a moment to sit on the Big Whiskey’s patio and take a look at the old storefront.  Maybe you can catch a glimpse of the past.

4,000 BIRTHDAYS & COUNTING

When our Firm brainstormed ways to celebrate the big 7-0, a non-profit organization was mentioned that just seemed to take the cake (pun intended).  The connection with celebrating the big birthday was natural and we decided to help others celebrate while celebrating our birthday!

In 2017, for every new like on Facebook, we will donate a box of cake mix or jar of frosting to Wish I May (up to 70 each month).  Wish I May is a non-profit organization started in 2013 by Lisa Slavens to help children (who otherwise would not be able) to celebrate their birthday.  Over the past five years, Wish I May has provided over 4,000 birthdays to children here in our community.  We found this to be a great way to help others celebrate too.

The most unique part about this organization is that it provides the toys, plates, napkins, cake mix, wrapping, bags, and other party supplies to the parents or guardians and they get to wrap and bake for children, so the child never has to know the gifts came from anywhere other than those that love them.

We are pleased to support this great organization and hope you will take the opportunity to like our Facebook page and visit their website at wishimay.org to learn more about Wish I May.

In 1985, the present firm of Esterly, Schneider & Associates was incorporated in Missouri, with Craig A Schneider becoming partner.  In 2014, Melissa A Higbie, Thomas A Lundberg, and Timothy M Guillot also joined as partners.  Following the tradition of excellence that was begun in 1947, Esterly, Schneider & Associates, Inc., AIA continues active involvement in communities across the nation, providing architectural leadership in Financial Institutions, Commercial, Medical, Governmental, Educational, and Industrial Facilities.

With our history of 70 years of projects, there have been many great experiences to share and showcase.  We hope you will enjoy learning about our journey, as we take a look back at our history “By the Numbers,” and we move forward in our future.

2017

Greetings!  We would like to invite you to join us as we look back at 70 years of architectural design…”By the Numbers!”

Every other week we will publish a new ‘number’ in the Springfield Business Journal that is significant to us, our clients, and/or our community.  You can take a guess as to what that edition’s number signifies and then visit our blog at www.esterlyschneider.com/70years, to find out how that number relates to our Firm, as well as the story behind the number.

We will also be sharing our blog on social media and we hope you will join our conversation and get to know us better!

We look forward to sharing with you tidbits about our Firm over the next year and looking back over some great memories and amazing clients, while looking forward to many, many more years to come!
